Palawa Joko
*This might be in the wrong section, change if it is.*
I'm not entirely sure of how we bring back Palawa Joko in Nightfall.
I'm just confused as to how it's actually done.
Can you help?

I assume you mean the back story role playing stuff of how he escaped, not the name of the quest you do to see him 'escape' his imprisonment (Crossing the Desolation)?
The short answer is: We didn't, it's all Kormir's fault.
If you were actually looking for a "what quest do I need to do" answer...

It sort of is our fault. We do the actual action, granted it was for a good reason but we still do it.

What 'actual action' is it that we do?

It's ALL Kormir's fault.

At the battle of Jahi it was discovered that Palawa Joko couldn't killed (after all he is undead and you can't kill what is already dead), so instead he was imprisoned in the memorial statue you see on the Jahi Buffs. When we needed to cross the desolation we freed* Palawa Joko so that in return he would help us to cross the desolation (as legend said that Humans had once been enslaved at his Bone Palace and we wanted to know how they got there). What we didn't foresee is what happens in-between GW1 and GW2 which was that once freed Palawa rebuilt his undead army's and conquered Elona again.
* - Okay, we didn't exactly free him ourselves but because Kormir invoked Nightfall the 'weakening walls of reality' enabled him to escape.

I blame Ash from Army of Darkness. If he would've just said the chant correctly, the Necronomicon would've been secured and none of this would've happened. Oh wait... different story.
Ummm... blame the blind chick. Or maybe it was Zhed and his four-legged thinking.

Technically, we didn't free him. We just looked the other way because we needed him to help us against Abaddon. Basically, we chose the lesser of two evils (as bad as he is, Elona under his rule is better than no Elona at all).

It's not exactly either Palawa lives or Abaddon consumes Elona. It was possible to imprison him again after he showed the heroes how to cross the Desolation (see Gate of Desolation ending cutscene)

We still needed him even then to help keep the Margonites at bay.
Now, one could argue that maybe, maybe we could've managed without him, but then again, Palawa taking over Elona again wasn't a certainty either.

1. Belongs in lore forum.
2. Abaddon's efforts to push through into the mortal world loosened up the magic binding him. Perhaps the fact that Kormir was dumb enough to go out right next to where he was entombed before getting herself sucked into RoT, so a rift spawned right next to the tomb, contributed to it.
3. We honored our bargain with him to release him after he taught us how to cross the desolation. This was honorable, but probably stupid.

There woulda been gw2 if Abaddon had taken over this madness...its part of lifes great struggle, looking after the planet or destroying it.
